Bafetimbi Gomis completes turnaround as Arsene Wenger sees Arsenal lose lead yet again

Wenger had just sat through another mad final half hour during which Arsenal turned a winning position into a miserable outcome. Two goals in three minutes, the first from former Tottenham associate Gylfi Sigurdsson with 15 minutes to go, the second from Bafetimbi Gomis just 60 seconds after making his entrance, capped a depressingly poor week.

At least the surrender of three goals in the Champions League at home to Anderlecht was not terminal for their chances of progressing to the knockout stages. Their chances of any meaningful challenge in the Premier League appear hopeless on this evidence. With only four wins in 11 games Arsenal are down to sixth, already a hefty 12 points adrift of leaders Chelsea, who Wenger suggested might win the title by a landslide.

It takes some doing turning a feelgood dimension brought by the acquisition of Alexis Sanchez into a footnote to sustained underachievement. Sanchez was on target for the 12th time in 14 games, his eighth league goal of the campaign to put Arsenal ahead. Incredibly Wenger thought the Chilean did not have his best game at the Liberty Stadium.

Just as well he did not dwell on the contribution of defender Calum Chambers, who started badly and went downhill from there against the lightening raids of Jefferson Montero. Only Alex Oxlade Chamberlain met the required standard of a team with championship ambitions, and only then in the second half when Arsenal established the first semblance of pattern and rhythm.

It was his break just past the hour that created the opening for Sanchez. Stealing possession in his own half, Oxlade Chamberlain accelerated across the halfway line, feeding the ball to the quick feet of Santi Cazorla, who in turn sent Danny Welbeck clear down the right.

In a rare display of incisiveness, the England striker cut inside Ashley Williams before squaring the ball to the advancing Sanchez, who smashed it into the goal from eight yards. As Wenger pointed out in his post match commentary, big teams go on from there to close the game down.

One team did respond and it was Swansea, firstly in the shape of manager Garry Monk, who introduced Modou Barrow for the ineffective Marvin Emnes. Monk was rewarded with a sprint down the middle by Barrow that drew an error from Kieran Gibbs, who caught the heels of the striker instead of the ball.

Wenger, of course, saw nothing wrong with the challenge. Referee Phil Dowd reached for the yellow card and Sigurdsson for the ball. He did play for Tottenham, which means heaping misery on the red shirt is a career long obligation.

He did not disappoint, curling a beauty over the wall into the top right hand corner of the Arsenal goal. Wojciech Szczesny dived, but only to keep up appearances. Three minutes later he was picking the ball out of the net a second time after Gomis headed home Montero's cross from close range.

He had been on the pitch barely 60 seconds, coming on for Wilfried Bony. One talisman for another as it turned out and another feather in the cap of the increasingly impressive Monk.

So in the space of 15 second half minutes a game that had taken its cues from the appalling weather in the opening half suddenly burned with intensity. It seemed an age since Oxlade Chamberlain tripped Montero on the edge of the Arsenal box with the game 10 minutes old. From Sigurdsson's resulting free kick Chambers headed the ball away for a corner. Too much excitement. vibram five fingers sale

The game reverted to the holding patterns of before, the ball passing largely sideways and backwards. Ten minutes later Swansea were again the aggressors and Montero once more the source of the danger, sweeping down the left to deliver a ball into the box for Bony, who was flattened but not illegally according to referee Dowd.

Sensing that vulnerability in the visitors might be lasting, Swansea flooded forward, forcing a sequence of corners. Arsenal survived but Wenger was unhappy, the episode triggering the first appearance of the substitutes sprinting down the touchline.

A slip by Chambers 10 minutes before the break saw Montero sprint clear again. His ball into Bony was transferred to Emnes, whose first time shot was repelled by Szczesny. With 43 minutes on the clock Welbeck fashioned Arsenal's first shot on target. It would have been an act of larceny had the visitors scored, Lukasz Fabianski ensuring Swansea's goal remained intact with a fine reaction save. Aaron Ramsey followed up with a consecutive strike from distance, sending a shot whistling past the post.

It presaged a shift in gear at the start of the second half. Arsenal began to command territory and possession. Williams needed treatment for a kick on Cazorla just outside the box. He was booked for his trouble and limped to the touchline after treatment.

With Swansea's captain labouring and Arsenal tails up for the first time, it was possible to believe a bad week was coming to an end for Wenger. When Sanchez peeled away to trigger a celebration in the rain, a positive conclusion seemed the most likely outcome. As it turned out the Arsenal players weren't waving, they were drowning.

Perhaps they should have taken their cue from the Second World War veterans paraded beforehand on this, Remembrance Sunday. After a beautifully observed two minutes silence the band of brothers made their way gingerly back to the side of the pitch. And then in one marvellous display of chutzpah one of their heroic number raised his walking stick to the skies. That is the quality Wenger needed in his side. There was no defeat in him.

Baeumlers go country in new 'House of Bryan'

TORONTO As if preparing to welcome a new baby wasn't enough to keep Bryan and Sarah Baeumler busy, the couple decided to pull up stakes with their three kids to move to their new home in the Ontario backwoods a sprawling space in need of major renovation. ET on HGTV Canada. The inaugural season of "House of Bryan" featured the family's custom home build in Oakville, Ont., west of Toronto, while the second focused on the construction of their cottage on a northern island. vibram five fingers sale

The latest instalment sees the family seeking out a bit more peace and quiet and settling on a spacious home set on 6.5 hectares. Unable to afford carrying the costs of their cottage and two homes, contractor Bryan breaks one of his cardinal rules by opting to live in their new house while it undergoes major construction.

"For the average family, I still strongly say if you're doing a major builder reno like this, get out. Move away, let it happen," he said in a phone interview.

"I think very few people would be in the same scenario we were: buying a house and building an addition directly attached to it with the goal of moving into the addition when it's completed." On top of that, they were also retrofitting the existing house, he added.

"I have a lot of practice and experience building and renovating homes, and my family has a lot of practice with a lot of people around and a lot of chaos," Baeumler said. "I think if you have a strong relationship, and a strong family, and an adventurous family, you can certainly get through it but it's certainly not for everyone." wholesale jerseys

Baeumler said the top priority throughout the home reno or construction process is safety particularly of kids. Everyone on site was diligent and aware of the location of the children before any construction equipment or machinery was moved, he noted. And for a period of time during construction when the deck was ripped off the front of the home, Baeumler said the locked front door was secured with multiple 7.5 centimetre construction screws into the door frame to hold it shut, with the area fully blocked and barricaded.

Baeumler said it's important to separate living quarters with plastic sheets and tape off air returns. And while it's key to keep the place tidy during the reno, he acknowledged they reached a stage "where you can't keep up with it." Such was the case when they decided to toss their well trodden carpets once construction wrapped.

"Construction isn't a two lane highway where you have to stay in between the lines and you can only go straight. It's more of a shipping channel where you just have to keep it clean of buoys and wander back and forth; and ultimately, the destination is the same.

"You have to be ready to make changes and you have to be ready to deal with issues that arise that you didn't expect and you have to be able to take that in stride."

For city dwellers considering a full time transition to the country, Baeumler said there are key considerations to be made in ensuring the upkeep of the home.

"You're more than likely going to be on the septic system, not the town system, so that's another piece of equipment that needs to be maintained and operating it can be a little more costly," he said. "You're probably going to be on a propane system rather than the city's gas, so you need to be on top of that, have it filled so you don't run out in the middle of winter."

For homeowners planning to embark on a reno in 2015, Baeumler said regardless of what's on their to do list, they need to have a plan in place that is "liquid and adjustable." While taking the time to enjoy the process, they should also identify key priorities, he noted. NFL Jerseys 2015

"A lot of people focus on the shiny things and stuff that will make things look great. But I always tell people the first place to spend your money is the place to last longer. . The money should go to the more permanent things.

"When I say that, I mean the structure in the home, the insulation in the home, the electrical mechanical. That's where you put your money first because that's what lasts the longest and that's what's going to increase the efficiency of the home."

In the early stages of Angelina Jolie public life she was known as the wild child actress who snogged her brother on the red carpet at the Oscars, wore a vial of her then husband Billy Bob Thornton blood around her neck and admitted to self harming and drug use.

But all that is now long forgotten as the Oscar winner splits most of her time between her extensive humanitarian work and bringing up her beautiful family of six. Let's take a look at how she's turned into a role model for so many.

Angelina Jolie in 2002

Angelina has said that she first become aware of the extent of the problems people around the world face when she filmed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in Cambodia in 2001. She later said that seeing and meeting the people of that war ravaged country 'opened my eyes.'

The suffering of the people in Cambodia caused Ange to contact the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to find out how she could help. She then went on her first overseas mission an 18 day trip to Sierra Leone and Tanzania. She followed that up with a two week trip back to Cambodia and then met with Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Not long after she was named a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and her humanitarian work really got going.

Angelina Jolie speaking as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in 2002

Since being appointed as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, Angelina has visited over 30 countries and even risked her life. On a recent trip to Afghanistan she revealed that she had written a farewell letter to Brad Pitt after being warned she was a target for attack. Two weeks after she arrived home a UN bunker was attacked and everyone inside it was killed.

Angelina is beyond admirable in her courage for visiting highly volatile areas, during her time as a Goodwill Ambassador she's visited Darfur in Sudan during the verocious conflict there, Chad during its civil war, Iraq and Libya during the Libyan revolution.

Angelina Jolie in Pakistan, 2005

Angelina, on the whole, has focused her attention on refugees and people who have been displaced due to conflict. This cause has seen her visit Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Cambodia, Pakistan, Thailand, Ecuador, Kosovo, Kenya, Namibia, Sri Lanka, North Caucasus, Jordan, Egypt, New Delhi, Costa Rica, Chad, Syria, and Iraq. fake oakleys

She has also helped those who have been displaced by natural disasters, including earthquake victims in Haiti.

Angelina has also set up and financed many charity organisations. In 2003, she founded the Maddox Jolie Pitt Foundation (after her first son, Maddox, who she adopted from Cambodia) which is dedicated to community development and environmental conservation in Cambodia.

But it doesn't stop there, in 2007 Ange joined forces with economist Dr. Gene Sperling and founded the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which funds education for children affected by man made or natural disasters.

And in 2008, she worked with Microsoft to set up the Kids in Need of Defense, a group of law firms and volunteers who have commiteed to giving legal counsel for immigrant kids in the US.
